A Message KIPCUG's President
Bill Buzan
This
is the year that KIPCUG has reached the ripe old age of 25 and a half
years, this is a major feat in this age of change and short lived
projects. During this time, the internet did not exist, the KIPCUG
organization operated a project call the "Fifth Dimension" and it was
managed by a "Sysop". The Fifth Dimension provided the membership a safe
(for the most part) site that shareware, freeware and crippled software
could be downloaded for the members use. Some of this software was
available and the General Meeting for purchase on a 3.5" floppy disk.
The magazine was called "DIR KIPCUG.*" and was very informative to the
computer user.
Many subsequent changes have occurred since that time. We are a computer
club, i.e., an organization of computer users looking to learn new and
better ways to do things and to share with their fellow users. Our Club
is looking for better ways to band together and to communicate with each
other and will be experimenting with some new and different ways to do
so.
As we complete our second 25 years nothing will be as constant as
"Change." This is your organization; please take the time to share your
ideas for managing this "Change." Some of the changes are designed to
get a greater participation of the members in the operation of the
organization. We are made up of many talented individuals and we need
their help, guidance and sweat to spring forward into the next 25. Our
desire is to have each officer have an understudy or back up for the
services that they perform for us all. This is an opportunity YOU THE
ORGANIZATION to add a little to the over all healthy of KIPCUG.
We have plans to develop programs for the youth in the community and can
use more hands in these projects. SIGs are being developed for the
education of children who have a great need of a KIPCUG in their world.
We will be seeking gifts and grants to fund some of the more involved
and expensive programs. The goals of this administration is to Brand the
name KIPCUG in this area, ask anyone about KIPCUG and they will know
you. This is not a effort that that can be done by a few, we all need
all the to help pull this wagon. A membership, in excess of 1,000, an
HOME of our own, finances to fund all of our venture and allow for much
more.
KIPCUG is in the process of re-inventing itself. This is a major effort
for all of us. Call a Director and ask how you can help as OUR CLUB
moves into its 26th year.
Remember KIPCUG is not the Officers and Directors but you the Members
that make or break our Organization, KIPCUG. Participation by you the
Membership makes all the difference.
