December 6, 2005 Program Notes:

Special Agent James T. Harris, Jr.
Federal Bureau of Investigation

SA Harris will give a presentation on Cyber Crime which will highlight some of the most common crimes currently being committed over the Internet. SA Harris is currently assigned the Louisville Division FBI squad responsible for conducting Cyber investigations. Cyber Crime is currently the number three investigative priority of the FBI behind Terrorism and Counterintelligence.

Special Agent (SA) Harris has been an FBI agent for almost ten years. His first FBI office assignment was in the Miami Division where he was assigned investigations from a variety of federal criminal violations including Mail Fraud, Wire Fraud, Securities Fraud, Foreign Counterintelligence, Computer Intrusions, and range of other Computer Crime investigations.

Since arriving in the Louisville Division in 1999, SA Harris has been assigned investigations related to Civil Rights Violations, Bank Robbery, Intellectual Property Rights, Internet Fraud, and Computer Intrusions.

SA Harris is a member of the FBI’s Computer Analysis Response Team (CART). CART is the section of the FBI which is responsible for the acquisition, examination, and courtroom presentation of digital evidence seized by the FBI during the course of an investigation.

SA Harris has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Kentucky in Computer Science. Prior to joining the FBI, SA Harris worked for a computer software company in Lexington, Kentucky.

KIPCUG meetings are not just for members. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. This is a great topic to bring a friend to see. Security is an issue every person with online access needs to know.  Members, this is a great opportunity to introduce someone to KIPCUG.

KIPCUG Meeting Features:

Back-to-Basics:

The KIPCUG General Meeting starts with the ever-helpful Back-to-Basics session.

Each month "Back-to-Basics" chooses a subject to improve everyone's basic/general knowledge. The sessions are intended to help the entry level user. Tom Scanlan leads our Back-to-Basics presentations.  Contact Tom with your suggestions for future topics.

User-to-User with Bob Rose

Bring your problems on a 3x5 card and we will try to give you a fix!

The User to User session with host Bob Rose is just before the Main Presentation, giving your KIPCUG friends a chance to answer YOUR questions submitted on paper. If YOU are having a problem with your PC, this is the time to get a good solution, so remember to bring your questions.

Door Prizes

KIPCUG members qualify for great door prizes.

PIG SIG

PIG means Food; SIG means Special Interest Group.

Meet us at Friday's following the General Meeting!  We always invite the Presenter to socialize and have a late snack or meal.  Everyone is welcome.  Ask a few more questions.  Chat with other KIPCUG members.  We grab a few tables, have fun, network, and relax a little before returning home.  Grab a chair and join in! Friday's is located at 2311 Lime Kiln Road.  From the meeting take Brownsboro Road east to Lime Kiln, turn right, Friday's will be on your left.  Everyone pays for their own “snack.” See you there!
