StarOffice
7 Office Suite is a complete, feature-rich and affordable office
productivity suite, comparable to Microsoft Office. It includes a word
processor, spreadsheet, presentation software, drawing program, and database
client (Software AG Adabas D). StarOffice 7 Office Suite also offers
graphics and photo editing, Web publishing, and more. Its user interface is
easy to learn and use. StarOffice is interoperable with Microsoft Office
file formats: ".doc", ".ppt", and "xls". StarOffice software is
multi-platform, available on the Solaris Operating Environment, Linux, and
Microsoft Windows platforms, and supports 10 languages.

StarOffice 7 Office Suite is a commercial product built on
OpenOffice.org's open source code to provide the best value, multi-platform
Microsoft compatible office suite aimed at organizations and consumers.
StarOffice includes licensed, third-party technology such as:
Spellchecker and thesaurus
Database component (Software AG Adabas D).
Select fonts including Windows metrically equivalent fonts and Asian
language fonts

The desktop components are based on open source and standards and include
the GNOME desktop environment, StarOffice productivity suite, Mozilla
browser, Evolution mail and calendar client, and Java 2 Platform Standard

centralized configuration, deployment, and administration of the user

Back-to-Basics:
The KIPCUG General Meeting starts with the ever-helpful Back-to-Basics
session.
Each month "Back-to-Basics" chooses a subject to improve everyone's basic/general knowledge.
The sessions are intended to help the entry level user. Grant McCormick
leads our Back-to-Basics presentations. Contact Grant with your
suggestions for future topics. .
User-to-User with Bill Cull
The User to User session with host Bill Cull is just before the Main
Presentation, giving your KIPCUG friends a chance to answer YOUR questions
submitted on paper. If YOU are having a problem with your PC, this is the
time to get a good solution, so remember to bring your questions.
